I write for the stage – primarily short dramatic forms: one-act plays, stage miniatures, and dialogues with a clear construction and a limited cast.
I am interested in theatre of the word – a situation in which a conversation reveals more than its participants intended. The characters in my works are often convinced that they know who they are and what place they occupy in the world, until the dialogue undermines their certainty. What remains at the centre is the relationship: the tension between people, ideas, and the order they are trying to understand.
The texts are intended for intimate productions. They rely on precision of language and a clear structure. The set design can be sparse – the space is meant to serve the actor and the word.
Most of the works require a small cast and can be staged in small theatre spaces.
